Old Town, Los Gatos, Thursday, December 13, 2018

Old Town was once the location of the University Avenue School (formerly the Los Gatos Grammar School c.1920),  and was redeveloped in the mid 60s as an upscale shopping and dining area. This quaint area of Los Gatos has no shortage of subjects to paint or sidewalk space to set up. Highlights  include the mission style architecture of the shops and nearby St. Luke's Episcopal Church, plenty of colorful holiday decorations, and friendly shoppers.

After the paintsite many artists walked to the next block over to visit Gallery 24 where paintsite regular Kaaren Marquez has several lovely large watercolors exhibited.  This includes a stunning still life of three pears and several seascapes.  For more information about Gallery 24, 24 N.   • Annie Haines and John Ediger each have two paintings in the California Watercolor Association's "Explore Color / Discover Color" exhibit at Dominican University, 50 Acacia Ave, San Rafael.   John's painting "Red Barn" won the 2nd place award.
