Moss Landing Harbor, July 11, 2019

Lois, Annie, and Kate painting at Moss Landing Harbor

This photo summarizes our day at Moss Landing Harbor:  artists painting stunning scenery under beautiful blue skies with so little wind that there were reflections in the water and Annie could set up her umbrella with no fear of it blowing into the water.  It is a long drive to Moss Landing, but we planned a big day since we had been on vacation the week before due to the Fourth of July holiday.  Moss Landing has so much together in proximity:  boats in the harbor, sea otters and sea lions, the power plant, the Old Salinas River, attractive old buildings along Moss Landing Road, Salinas River State Beach, Monterey Bay, and delicious food at Phil’s Fish Market & Eatery.  We did our best to capture it in one day.

Artists and their artwork:

The day started off with clear skies inland, but with a thin marine layer right on the coast.

Reflections of sailboat masts in the harbor under cloudy skies

It wasn't long until we spotted a sea otter having breakfast in the harbor.

A ghostly apparition in the sky.
Soon it was completely clear, warm, and pleasant.

Brad says this is the reason we drive all the way south to Moss Landing:  to have lunch together at Phil's Fish Market & Eatery.

We were hungry and it was time for lunch.

Liz's artichoke was so beautiful, Toni had to get a photo.

One table of artists.  Grace reported that her cioppino was delicious.

Another table of artists

Another table of artists found a place inside the restaurant.

After lunch many of the artists posed for a group shot.

Thank you, Edward, for leading the sharing of our artwork.

It looks like Edward's comments were very entertaining.
After lunch some of us were not ready to leave the ocean, but instead kept on painting.
