Mtn View Library / Pioneer Memorial Park, Mountain View, October 18, 2018
We are very grateful to SCVWS member Shaowei Liu who gave an excellent tree painting demo at Mountain View Library / Pioneer Memorial Park. We are also grateful to Salinda who first suggested this lesson. The lesson was so well attended that it would have been nice to use the large monitor used for demos in the Hoover Theater. But it was so much better to be outside among the actual trees and to see the shadows and sunlight on the trees and to see how Shaowei handled it in the plein air setting.
The Mountain View Pioneer Memorial Park was an excellent venue for a tree painting demo because it has many mature trees of different varieties, groupings of trees, intensely green grass, and attractive buildings in the background: the library, Center for Performing Arts, City Hall, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Upcoming paintsites: See the SCVWS website or the October/November Newsletters for details:

Ardenwood Historic Farm, Fremont October 11, 2018
This Thursday is the fourth time that Paintsites has visited Ardenwood Farm in the past five years, and understandably so. The pumpkins are the big draw for many of us but Ardenwood has so many attractions in one location that a yearly Paintsite visit makes it a worthwhile destination. One's first impression on approaching the farm is the striking orange of a field full of pumpkins, yet there is so much more beyond the entrance: the historic Victorian style Patterson House and its gardens, a beautifully preserved water tower, an amazing collection of old farm equipment, a railroad museum, a working blacksmith shop, farm animals (lots of roaming chickens) and wildlife (including rare songbirds, monarchs and one very sly fox).
