When the County Museum moved to the old courthouse in Redwood City in 1998 the front entrance was blocked by a County annex building. A partnership between the county, city and redevelopment groups led to demolition of the annex thus opening up the entrance and the creation of a newly designed plaza. The stately 1910 County Courthouse is on the National Register of Historic places. It’s front facade boasts a Roman renaissance-style portico, and a magnificent stained glass dome (even more stunning from within) surrounded by eagle sculptures.
