Week 36 November 15 - 21, 2020

Paintsite coordinator Jane is back and joined 10 other painters at spacious Sunnyvale Baylands Park! While Santa Clara County moved to a more restrictive tier, all painters enjoyed breezy and socially distanced views of the Diablo Range, fall colors and cloud variations (starting with ground fog and ending with mares tail and afternoon sun). - Alison

“This painting was all about that beautiful sky—
blue with sweeping brushstrokes of feathery white clouds.
It got so cold that I had to forego gathering with other artists,
and ate lunch in my car to warm up!” - Laurie

While the forecast was ominous, four artists were rewarded with a spectacular warm and beautiful autumn day in San Francisco. Every view was as beautiful as it was when San Francisco  hosted the 1915 Panama-Pacific  Exposition. Designed  by Bernard Maybeck, the Palace of Fine Arts building served as a quiet zone during the exhibition. Visually soothing, it was a fun challenge to capture  Maybeck’s inspiration from Roman and Ancient Greek architecture. Link

Week 34, November 1 to 7, 2020

Susan BG, Laurie, XL, Toni, Kris, Claudia, Marni and I enjoyed a clear warm day at Santa Teresa County Park. The unofficial Thursday paint site theme was a turkey trot and although there were quadrupeds- Tule Elk, cattle and horses, and bipeds- hikers and birds, the only turkeys we found were turkey vultures. -Alison

What a beautiful day, with perfect weather and the nice company of
women artists at the Santa Teresa County Park’s Pueblo Day Use Area!

It was nice to get back to plein air painting, after 9  months of COVID
shelter-in-place.
My view of Mt. Hamilton reminded me of how I
celebrated my July birthday at the Grand View Restaurant, which
is almost at the top of Mt. Hamilton, and has a GREAT view of our valley.

Week 33, October 25 - 31

New Almaden was full of ghosts and goblins that are ready for All -Hallows  Eve! Annie, Bobbi, Helen, Elaine, Susan BG, Kris and 3 newcomers enjoyed the autumnal weather near St. Anthony’s Historic Church. A few ventured to verify Richard Bertram Barrett’s arm is safely buried at Hacienda Cemetery- rumored to be on the loose on Halloween  in search for the rest of his body buried at Oak Hill. We eyed the local friendly dog warily; he seemed very attuned to us and our purpose. - Alison
