Thank you, Carol R., for recommending Fremont’s beautiful Central Park and Lake Elizabeth and for warmly greeting us as we arrived. It is hard to believe we have never painted here before. We are lucky to have an East Bay member who helps us find East Bay sites. The park has lovely views of the East Bay Hills including Mission Peak with the lake in the foreground. The hills are starting to turn golden, but still have some green showing. There is a 2 mile walkway around the lake which seems just the right distance for a pleasant walk, and it seems that the walk is very popular, but I was too busy with my painting to check it out.
As I sat there peacefully painting in the beautiful weather, it seemed hard to believe that a BART Tunnel runs directly under the lake, but it is true. The tunnel was constructed under the park as part of the Warm Springs BART expansion and opened for service in 2017.

We were delighted to see this beautiful acrylic painting depicting
Fremont's Central Park hanging in the Visitor Center.
This is the artwork of Toni's mother, Hildegard Gregorio.
Alas, due to the reflections off the glass, this photo does not
do justice to the beautiful painting. |
