Coyote Hills Regional Park, Fremont, April 12, 2018

Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont was very beautiful with the grass on the hillsides so green, poppies such bright orange, lupine such rich purple, lots of water in the marshes, and the rain from the night before making everything appear so fresh without making trails a bit muddy.  From our first painting spot on top of Red Hill we could see the San Francisco Bay, Dumbarton Bridge, the Peninsula, San Mateo Bridge, San Francisco, Oakland, Mt. Diablo, the Diablo Range, and the marshes at the park.  Our hike was pretty short, only about 2 miles total, leaving us more time to paint.  In addition to the poppies and lupine we saw lots of wild radish on the trail up the hill and blue eyed grass on our way down.
A group of school children arrived by bus and hiked up to the top of Red Hill.  They were just delightful because they were so excited when then saw a group of artists and so complimentary when they looked at our artwork in progress.

Some artists painted the views of the marshes from near the parking lot.  After the hike, some of the artists strolled along the boardwalk out into the marsh and then enjoyed a visit to the Nectar Garden which contained many beautiful flowering plants.
