Villa Montalvo, Saratoga, April 5, 2018

Villa Montalvo, built in 1912, was once the grand estate of Senator James Phelan.  He bequeathed Montalvo to be maintained as a public park to be used for the development of art, literature, music and architecture.  It has so many painting possibilities – the beautiful villa, the expansive Grand Lawn, many gardens, sculptures, and architecture.  The wisteria was in glorious bloom, and it seemed to make an appearance in many of our paintings.
